Review by an auditor provides assurance

Investors review their investment decisions on a regular basis and demand reliable and readily accessible information. Interim financial information enables investors to make investment decisions based on reliable independent evidence. An interim review by the auditor can be carried out with the objective of providing further assurance on the information included in the annual financial statements without undertaking a full audit.

In the case of companies not requiring an audit, a review by an auditor can provide assurance by way of a report to the effect that the annual financial statements have been prepared on a basis which is not inconsistent with generally accepted accounting principles.
