Sino-German Business and Investment Forum

Business and Investment Oppertunities of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany

On March 16, 17 and 18, 2015 over 200 participants came together at the "Sino-German Business and Investment Forum" to get informed about the business and investment opportunities of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.

North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) lies at the center of Europe and borders on the Netherlands and Belgium. It is the most populous and the most densely populated of the 16 federal states in Germany. NRW is home to large industrial corporations of world standing as well as dozens of smaller companies which are leaders in their respective business fields. In 2014, the industrial enterprises based in NRW generated sales of 340 billion euros – which is 19% of the industrial sales in Germany.

To companies investing from abroad, the German regulatory framework can be exceedingly complex, and failure to comply with existing laws can put your company at risk. In this regard, Human Resource (HR) is a particularly important success factor. They require a well-functioning HR department in order to ensure the successful establishment, operation, and development of their businesses. This applies not only hard facts like labor and tax law, insurance, payroll accounting, recruiting, cooperation with authorities or HR IT but also soft facts like visa application, working and residence permits or the social concerns.

The cross-border profit repatriation is of particular importance to foreign investing companies. Using the right strategy to optimize profit repatriation from Germany to China or Hong Kong can result in significant cost savings. However, many factors should be considered before making any decisions. For example, tax implications need to be taken into account. Choosing the right type of business entity in Germany can significantly support investments in Germany by providing a means of using existing tax advantages.

The seminar aims with providing you with the latest information about the investing environment in Germany especially regarding HR management, the legal form of the firm and the profit transfer between countries, enabling you to seize the opportunities for placing successful and sustainable investments and at the same time avoid any traps that may hinder your business development in Germany.
